Third Language Acquisition and Multilingualism, 

will be held at the University of Poznań (Poland) 

3 - 5 September 2026

A doctoral workshop will be held on the afternoon preceding the conference
(2 September).



Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce the 14th International Conference on Third Language Acquisition and Multilingualism, which will take place on 2 - 5 September 2026. The conference is organised jointly by the Faculty of English and the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.

We warmly invite you to submit your original research contributions on any facet of multilingualism, focusing on the acquisition or use of three or more languages. We encourage papers that are rooted in either empirical or theoretical frameworks, aiming to make a significant impact in this vibrant field. Your insights and findings will be invaluable to our community!

The call for papers opens on September 1, 2025, and closes on December 1, 2025.

 
Plenary speakers

The conference will feature keynote talks by:

•    Guillaume Thierry (Bangor University)
•    Agnieszka Otwinowska-Kasztelanic (University of Warsaw)
•    Ludovica Serratrice (University of Reading)


Presentation formats

We welcome submissions in the following categories:

•    Individual papers 
30-minute slots: 20 minutes for presentation, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Sessions will run in parallel.
•    Posters 
Posters will be displayed during designated sessions scheduled in the main programme.
•    Doctoral student workshop 
Designed for PhD students to present ongoing research and receive feedback from senior scholars (discussants) and peers. Each slot includes 15 minutes for presentation and 15 minutes for discussion. Accepted participants will be asked to submit their materials (abstract, presentation slides, and questions for the discussant) ahead of the event (deadline TBA). The doctoral workshop will take place in the afternoon of 2 September.
 

Abstract submission guidelines

•    Abstracts should not exceed 300 words, excluding the title and references.
•    Each participant may appear as the first author and as presenter on only one submission.
•    While English is the main language of the conference, submissions in other languages will also be considered (provided the respective reviewers can be secured).

All submissions will undergo anonymous peer review by members of the scientific committee. Abstracts will be evaluated based on content quality, clarity, originality, and relevance to the conference theme.

Important Dates

•    Call for papers opens: 1 September 2025
•    Submission deadline: 1 December 2025
•    Notification of acceptance: late February 2026
•    Doctoral workshop: Afternoon of 2 September 2026
•    Main conference: 3–5 September 2026
