    Håkan Ringbom (13th May 2015)


Emeritus Prof. Håkan Ringbom was professor at the Åbo Akademi University (Turku/Åbo, Finland) and he became an Honorary Member of the International Association of Multilingualism in 2011 because of his significant contribution to the field. He will be greatly missed in our association and he will be remembered as a great scholar whose work has been a source of inspiration for all of us.

As announced in Uppsala, the Association granted Kaj Sjöholm  the Honorary Membership of the IAM for his contribution to research on multilingualism. This distinguished member was awarded free IAM membership for life including the subscription to the International Journal of Multilingualism.  Congratulations!


 
According to the initiative of the Board of the International Association of Multilingualism Board  which met on 25.07.2010 in London, at Birkbeck College, University of London,  the decision was made to honour the outstanding members of the International Association of Multilingualism and grant them the Honorary membership of the IAM.These distinguished members are awarded free IAM membership for life including the subscription to the International Journal of Multilingualism .16.09. 2011 in Warsaw the honorary membership was awarded to Björn Hammarberg and Håkan Ringbom for their contribution to research in Multilingualism and L3 acquisition. They are highly respected and esteemed members of  our community.  We all have benefited from their work and their inspiring personalities.   These two outstanding members of our association are prolific and insightful  researchers who contributed significantly to the field.
